Flutter app development from our office in Cheadle. One codebase gives you an iPhone and an Android app, plus a web app if you need one. We maintain flutter_markdown_plus, the package Google's Flutter team named as the replacement for its own flutter_markdown.
We build SDKs for Flutter, React Native, iOS and Android, so partners can add your service to their own apps, with documentation and example code their developers can follow.
Native iOS apps in Swift for iPhone and iPad. We handle App Store Connect submission for you, including the metadata, screenshots and privacy questionnaires that hold up a lot of first launches.
Native Android apps in Kotlin, tested on real devices running current Android releases. We handle Google Play submission and keep your app in line with Play's policy changes each year.
App Care support for Flutter, React Native, iOS and Android apps, from £675 a month. We keep your app working with each new iOS and Android release and fix crashes within your plan's hours.
Senior technical leadership without a full-time hire. Our CTO works with your team on architecture, hiring and supplier choices, and will tell you when a plan isn't going to work.
React Native apps for iOS and Android from one codebase, built with Expo. If your team already works in React, it's often the quickest route to a mobile app, and we'll tell you if Flutter or native would suit your project better.

App Developers in Manchester

Foresight Mobile is a mobile app development company at Cheadle Place in Cheadle, about six miles south of Manchester city centre. We've built and looked after iOS and Android apps since 2017, more than 50 of them so far. Our builds usually cost between £15,000 and £80,000. Every project starts with the App Gameplan: four weeks for a fixed £3,500, after which you know what to build and what it will cost.

If you'd rather talk it over in person, call us on 0161 552 5498 and come and meet us at Cheadle Place.

Mobile app development in Manchester: what working with us looks like

Where we are

Our office is at Cheadle Place, Stockport Road, Cheadle SK8 2JX. That's just south of Manchester, in the borough of Stockport. It's about 20 minutes from the city centre.

We find meeting in person helps most at the kick-off workshop and whenever scope gets difficult, and we're happy to do both face to face. Between those meetings there's usually a shared Slack channel, and every two weeks a new build lands on your phone through TestFlight on iPhone or Firebase App Distribution on Android.

Greater Manchester organisations we've worked with

GTD Healthcare, a not-for-profit provider of NHS primary and urgent care based in Denton, needed their HR and payroll system, iTrent, to share data with RotaMaster, where their rotas live. We built that link on Azure Logic Apps, on time and on budget, and we've supported it since 2024.

SeeChange Technologies, a Manchester company that was part of Arm at the time, asked us to build the Insights app for their SeeWare platform. We wrote it in Flutter, so one codebase served iOS, Android and the web, and we kept it updated after launch. The SeeChange case study has the details.

We also work with Manchester agencies. Axon Garside, based on Little Lever Street, brings us in when their clients need an app.

What we do

For new apps, we specialise in Flutter app development, where one codebase gives you both an iPhone and an Android app, and we build native iOS and native Android apps when a project needs them. We also maintain flutter_markdown_plus, the package Google's Flutter team named as the replacement for its own flutter_markdown, so other developers rely on our Flutter code too.

Once an app is live it needs looking after, because Apple and Google change their requirements every year and an app nobody maintains falls out of line with them. Our App Care plans cover OS updates and crash monitoring, and we take on apps another developer has left behind.

Plenty of founders now build a first version in Lovable, Base44 or a similar tool, then find it won't hold up once real users and payments arrive. We get those apps ready for production: see vibe code to production, Lovable to production and Base44 to production.

What an app costs

Our prices don't change with your postcode. Builds usually fall into these bands:

App Gameplan: £3,500 fixed, over four weeks. You come away knowing what to build, what it will cost and whether it makes sense for your business. If you go ahead, the fee is credited against your first development sprint.

Simple app or MVP: £15,000 to £40,000, with 3 to 6 weeks of development.

Medium-complexity app: £40,000 to £80,000, with 6 to 12 weeks of development.

Complex or enterprise app: £80,000 and up, with 12 to 20 weeks of development.

App Care support: £675 to £1,495 a month.

Development time starts after the Gameplan. Separate native iOS and Android apps cost more than a single Flutter app, because there are two codebases to build.

A team several time zones ahead will often quote a lower day rate. In our experience the saving tends to go on rework when the people building your app can't join a call during your working day.

Who's behind Foresight

Gareth Reese, our CTO and founder, has worked in mobile for more than 25 years, including time at Electronic Arts, and set up Foresight in 2017.

Part of Manchester's tech community

We're members of Manchester Digital, the independent, not-for-profit organisation backing Greater Manchester's tech sector, and we write for its members' blog. Recent pieces cover what's actually working in the app economy in 2026 and the payment decision that decides whether your app earns anything.

What our clients say

All work completed on time and on budget. No hidden costs at all.

Steven Robbins, Head of Information and Digital Transformation, GTD Healthcare

Foresight Mobile effectively and promptly met our needs. [...] They were a candid, reliable, and collaborative partner.

Fumbi Kolawole, Project Manager, SeeChange Technologies

Before Foresight came on board, we had crash reporting installed but it wasn't telling us anything useful. We knew the app had issues but couldn't see where they were coming from. Within weeks of the engagement starting, we had a proper picture of what was happening in production and could start working through the backlog. The difference was immediate.

Hiring an app developer in Manchester: common questions

How much does it cost to build an app in Manchester?

Our builds usually cost £15,000 to £40,000 for a simple app or MVP, £40,000 to £80,000 for a medium-complexity app, and £80,000 or more for complex and enterprise work. We start with a £3,500 App Gameplan, which turns your idea into a scoped, fixed-price plan, and the fee is credited if you go on to build with us.

Can we meet in person?

Yes. Our office is in Cheadle, just south of Manchester, and we're glad to run workshops there. Most day-to-day work happens over Slack and video calls, and we meet face to face when it helps.

Should I hire a Manchester agency, a freelancer or a team abroad?

Think about the years after launch as well as the build. A freelancer can be the cheapest way to get a first version made, but apps need updating every year, and one person is a single point of failure. Teams in distant time zones quote lower day rates. We think a local team earns its cost when you want decisions made quickly and someone you can sit down with when things go wrong.

How long does it take to build an app?

After the four-week Gameplan, development usually takes 3 to 6 weeks for a simple app or MVP, 6 to 12 weeks for a medium-complexity app, and 12 to 20 weeks for a complex one. Store review usually adds a few days. A new personal Google Play developer account needs a two-week closed test before its first release.

Can you take over an app another developer built?

Yes. We start with a free check and, if it's worth going further, a £95 code review that's credited against the work. That covers the code and who owns the App Store and Google Play accounts. If the previous developer still holds them, we'll help you get them transferred into your name.

Do you only work with Manchester businesses?

No. We work with clients across the UK and abroad, and we have offices in London and Birmingham as well as Cheadle.

Our Mission

Apps that are easy to look after

We choose mature, well-supported technology (Flutter, Swift and Kotlin) so your app stays affordable to update long after launch. In our experience, most of an app's cost comes after release. GTD Healthcare and SeeChange both moved onto ongoing support with us once their projects were live.

If you're in Greater Manchester and want to see how we work, come and visit us at Cheadle Place, or start with the App Gameplan.
